ABOUT BRASSDALE

Built on the Conviction That Financial Clarity Is Worth Pursuing

We write and teach financial education courses for Malaysian adults in their forties, fifties, and beyond — people who have earned the right to think carefully about their money.

OUR STORY

How Brassdale Came to Be

Brassdale began in Kuala Lumpur with a simple observation: most financial education is written for people who are just starting out. The vocabulary assumes a twenty-something assembling their first salary, their first savings account, their first rough sense of the future. By the time a person reaches their forties, they have already accumulated a life — a household, possibly children approaching university age, a business they have spent years building, and a retirement that is no longer entirely abstract.

The questions they carry are different. Not "how do I start saving?" but "how do I keep proper records of what I already have?" Not "should I open an education account?" but "my eldest is entering Form Five — what is the realistic picture of tertiary costs, and how do I weigh that against my EPF balance?" Not "should I keep my business going?" but "I am sixty-two and I need to understand what happens to this company when I step back."

Brassdale was founded to address those questions — not with formulas or promises, but with the kind of quiet, thorough instruction that treats adults as capable of making their own decisions once given a clearer view.

OUR MISSION

Clearer Finances, Better Decisions

Our mission is to give Malaysians in the second half of their working lives the financial knowledge they actually need — specific to their circumstances, specific to Malaysia, and delivered without the sales pressure that too often accompanies financial advice.

We do not sell financial products, accept referral fees, or work with brokers. Our income comes entirely from course fees. That independence shapes everything we write.

Content written specifically for the Malaysian legal and financial context

No affiliated products — courses are the complete offering

Designed for adults who think carefully and prefer measured language

Each course is practical, printable, and useful over many years

THE TEAM

The People Behind the Courses

RH

Rozaini Hashim

FOUNDER & COURSE DIRECTOR

A former chartered accountant with twenty-two years in private practice, Rozaini writes and revises the core curriculum. She brought the business to life after years of answering the same midlife financial questions from friends and colleagues who lacked a clear resource.

KL

Kenneth Loh

COURSE ADVISER — SUCCESSION & LEGAL

Kenneth practised as a corporate lawyer in Kuala Lumpur for eighteen years before focusing on advisory work. He reviews the succession and legal material in the Small Business Succession course and contributes to the annual updates as regulations change.

NA

Nabilah Aziz

LEARNING DESIGN & PARTICIPANT SUPPORT

Nabilah oversees how the courses are structured and delivered, ensures materials are accessible, and handles correspondence with enrolled participants. She came to Brassdale from the adult education sector, where she spent a decade designing distance learning programmes.

HOW WE WORK

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

Annual Content Review

Each course is reviewed at least once a year against changes in Malaysian tax law, EPF rules, company legislation, and education funding policies. Enrolled participants receive updated materials at no additional cost.

No Product Affiliations

We carry no financial product licences and receive no commissions. Course content is written from a position of independence, and participants are never directed toward a particular product or provider.

Data Protection

Participant information is held under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We do not share, sell, or use participant data for marketing beyond the course they have enrolled in. Data retention periods are clearly documented in our privacy policy.

Plain Language Writing

All course materials are reviewed for plain language clarity before publication. Jargon is explained in context. We do not assume familiarity with legal or accounting terminology — we build it as needed.

Professional Review

Course content involving legal or tax matters is reviewed by a qualified professional before each edition. Where opinions differ among practitioners, we present the range of views rather than asserting a single answer.

Participant Feedback Loop

Each cohort is asked for structured feedback at the end of the course. We read every response and use it to improve the material. Changes made in response to feedback are noted in the course revision log.

OUR POSITION

Financial Knowledge for the Second Half

Brassdale occupies a particular position in Malaysian adult education. We are not a financial planning firm, a licensed advisory service, or a motivational programme. We are an education provider — one that takes the subject of personal and small business finance seriously and writes about it with the care it deserves.

The adults who come to our courses are, in the main, thoughtful people who feel they should know more than they do about a subject that matters to their family. They are not looking for someone to manage their money — they want to understand it well enough to make their own choices. Our courses serve that purpose. They do not require participants to act in any particular way; they equip participants to act in the way that fits their own situation.

We are based in Kuala Lumpur, and everything we produce reflects Malaysian law, Malaysian financial institutions, and the Malaysian cost of living. If you have questions about whether a course fits your circumstances, we welcome a conversation before enrolment. We would rather help you make the right decision for yourself than have you commit to something that does not serve you.
